Got told by a client that my "professional" haircut looked uneven

I've been cutting my own hair for years and thought I had it down, but last month my sister pointed out the right side was a quarter inch longer than the left. She made me use a mirror to check the back and now I trim in front of a second mirror every time. Has anyone else had to change their whole routine because of one comment?

A quarter inch? That's wild... I would've never caught something that small without someone pointing it out. I've been trimming my own hair for about two years now and I just go by feel in the bathroom mirror. Now I'm gonna have to dig out my second mirror and check every time, thanks for that.

@ryanburns that second mirror trick is a lifesaver. I used to just grab a hand mirror and angle it over my shoulder but after one BAD snip I invested in a proper two mirror setup. Pro tip: get a magnifying mirror for that back view because normal mirrors can trick you with lighting. My routine now involves sectioning my hair into four parts and checking each one twice before I put the clippers down. It adds ten minutes but beats walking around with one side longer than the other.
