Hot take: People keep mixing up 'advice' and 'advise' in comments

I swear I see it multiple times a week in this community. Someone will type 'please advice me on this' and then get upset when someone corrects them. It's not a big deal on its own but it happens ALL the time. I used to do it too back in 2018 when I first started posting. My buddy told me right away and I felt dumb for like a week. But now it seems like nobody bothers to fix it anymore and it's spreading. Has anyone else noticed this getting worse or am I just getting old and cranky?

...and honestly, I think people do it on purpose now just to mess with us grammar nerds (which honestly would be kind of a power move, you have to admit). Like, my brain short-circuits every time I see "please advice me" because it's just asking to be corrected. But then the person who wrote it gets all defensive like "you knew what I meant" and yeah, I did, but that doesn't make it any less painful to read. It's like watching someone wear shoes on the wrong feet - you can survive, but you're definitely going to say something about it.

Bell.taylor nailed it with that shoes analogy, that's exactly how it feels. Do you think people genuinely don't know the difference anymore, or is it more that they just don't care about spelling once the point gets across? I noticed it's way worse on mobile where autocorrect just guesses and nobody bothers to fix it.
