My coworker said my writing was too formal - did I overcorrect?
I got told by a senior editor that my reports read like a legal document, so I tried switching to a more casual tone. For a month I used simpler words and added personal examples in my weekly updates. My manager liked it, but my client said it felt less professional. I spent 3 hours rewriting one report to find a middle ground. Still not sure if I should lean into the old style or keep pushing with the new approach. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made you completely change your method, and how did you balance it?

You said "three hours rewriting one report" which means you are overthinking this way too much.

Honestly, I think you're kinda jumping on them for no reason. @uma306 like, three hours on one report is a lot sure but maybe they just wanted it to be really tight you know? I've definitely spent way too long tweaking small stuff before and it's not always about overthinking sometimes the draft just sucks and you have to rebuild it. Calling it overthinking feels like dismissing the actual work they did.
