Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say he never drinks water during work hours...
I was sitting next to this guy on his laptop last Tuesday and he told his friend he hasn't had a sip of water at his desk in like 8 years. Only black coffee from 8am to 6pm. Said his doctor told him his kidneys are fine but I can't wrap my head around that. I get headaches if I skip water for a few hours. Is this actually a thing people do or was he just showing off? Has anyone else run into someone who swears by this?

Oh wow, that is wild! I wonder if his constant coffee intake is actually keeping him hydrated enough without him realizing it. Coffee might be a diuretic but the water content in it has to count for something, right? Maybe his body just adapted over time to rely on that instead of plain water. Has he ever mentioned if he feels different when he tries to drink actual water?

Man, that is insane to think about! I literally can't imagine going 50 years without water, like my brain would explode. @the_rose you mentioned the diuretic thing, and I've seen studies that say moderate coffee intake isn't as dehydrating as people think, but still... that's a wild level of adaptation. Has he ever tried to chug a big glass of water and felt sick or something? I'm genuinely curious if his body just rejects plain water now.
