Question about the 'ask me anything' format on this forum

I used to think it was just for random personal stuff, but after seeing a thread get 200 replies in a day about proper citation methods, I realized it's actually for deep dives on any topic. Has anyone else seen a specific question here that totally changed how you do something?

Disagree with that take completely. The format is still for personal questions at its core. Those deep dive threads are just a side effect of having a lot of knowledgeable people in one place. The tag itself doesn't create the expert answers, the community does. I've seen plenty of "ask me anything" posts that are just about someone's weird hobby or life story, and they fit the format better. The citation thread was an outlier, not the new rule.
