Question about those 'learn anything' online courses

I spent $120 on a course promising to teach me how to build a website in a weekend, but the videos were just a guy reading Wikipedia pages out loud. I lost the money and a whole Saturday. Has anyone found a good, actually useful place to learn basic web stuff?

Actually sounds like you got exactly what you paid for. A weekend course is basically an overview, not a deep dive. Free info is out there, but paying someone to organize it for you has value, even if it's just reading aloud. You skipped hunting through a hundred different sites and forums. That time saved is worth something. Maybe adjust your expectations for what a cheap, quick course can actually deliver.

Wait, did you just say reading aloud has value? Paying someone to read basic info from a website back to you... that's not teaching, that's a rip-off. A weekend course should at least try to explain things, not just be a live audiobook. Saving time is one thing, but getting almost nothing new for your money feels bad. Honestly, that just sounds like a fancy way to defend a lazy setup.
