Rant: 12 years of stripping wire the hard way

Been doing electrical work since I was 19 and just realized last week I've been using my strippers backwards. Foreman saw me on a job in Portland and asked why I was fighting the tool. Has anyone else had that moment where you find out you've been using something wrong for years?

Have you ever noticed how many everyday tools have a trick to them that nobody tells you about? It's like that same feeling when I found out you're supposed to wet a sponge before cleaning with it - small thing, huge difference. These little shortcuts show up everywhere once you start looking.

Oh man, I read somewhere that most people use the wrong end of a tape measure... apparently the metal bit on the end is supposed to move around a little to adjust for inside and outside measurements. They just don't teach that stuff anywhere, you have to stumble onto it by accident.
