Realized last month why my truck kept stalling when it rained

My 1998 Ford Ranger did the exact same thing for two years. Took me forever to figure out it was a cracked distributor cap letting water in. But you know, that just kept the truck from running in the rain, which honestly saved me from driving in a lot of dangerous weather.

That thing about the cracked distributor cap is wild... reminds me of how my buddy's 2004 Corolla had a weird quirk where it would only stall out at specific gas stations. He spent months blaming different brands before realizing the vapor recovery system on those pumps was just a little too aggressive for his car's evap system. Almost like vehicles develop their own little personalities over time, you know? They learn which conditions bug them and just decide to act up at the worst possible moment... probably the same reason my mailbox door only sticks when I'm holding a stack of important letters.
