Showerthought: a client said my survey questions were leading the answers

They pointed out I kept asking 'how much did you enjoy' instead of 'what was your experience'. I rewrote all 20 questions to be neutral. Anyone have a good example of an unbiased question format?

My buddy Jake works in market research. He had a survey get totally shredded last year. His boss said it was full of loaded questions, like asking if a product was "easy and fun to use." He had to redo the whole thing. The rule they gave him was to start questions with "Describe" or "What happened when." So instead of "How helpful was the guide?" he wrote "What did the guide help you do?" It forces a real answer, not just a rating. Took him a full weekend to fix it all.

Actually, that's a great tip for open ended questions! But for rating scales, "how helpful was the guide" is a totally normal question. The problem is when every question is leading the answer.
