Spent 40 minutes looking for my phone this morning...

I was frantically searching the house for my phone before the kids' school run. Looked under couch cushions, in the laundry basket, even checked the fridge. My wife finally asked me what I was doing and I said 'looking for my phone' while holding it up to my ear on a call with the plumber. Has anyone else done something this dumb with their phone?

I once told my husband I lost my phone while I was literally holding it and talking to him.

I lost my phone while I was literally holding it" - oh I have been there @the_jennifer. This is part of a bigger pattern where our brains just totally check out on the boring everyday stuff. Like when you walk into a room and forget why, or put the milk in the cupboard and the cereal in the fridge. It's not about being dumb, it's more like our minds are on autopilot for the routine tasks and something just glitches. I swear half the time I'm just running on muscle memory and not actually paying attention to what I'm doing. The worst is when you're so focused on finding something that you don't even register it's right there in your hand.
