Spent $80 on a 'premium' online course about asking better questions and it was a total joke.

The guy basically just said 'be curious' for three hours and repackaged common sense. I bought it hoping to get better at my job in customer research, but the worksheets were just blank pages with 'write your question here'. Honestly felt like I got scammed. Has anyone found a resource on this topic that's actually useful?

Used to think that too, then I tried just listening more.

@nora535 I get where you're coming from, but listening alone won't give you structured techniques. What actually helped me was a book called "The Mom Test" by Rob Fitzpatrick. It's short and focused on how to ask questions that get real answers, not just polite nods. Costs less than $20 and has specific scripts and traps to avoid.

That sounds so frustrating, especially when you're trying to improve at your job. I totally get wanting real tools, not just vague advice. @nora535 has a point about listening, but you need more than that to build skills. Maybe check out some books from actual researchers instead of online gurus. The course you took sounds like it had zero real structure. It's a shame how many people sell that kind of empty content.
