The barista who asked me to rate her pour over on a 1 to 10 scale

Last Tuesday at a coffee shop in Portland, a barista handed me a cup and said, 'Rate this pour over, but be honest, my last customer gave me a 3.' I took a sip and it was actually fine, nothing fancy. I said, 'It's a 7, maybe 7.5.' She stared at me for a solid ten seconds, then pulled out a tiny notebook and wrote something down. Turns out she was tracking every score to find a pattern in what people liked. I asked if she ever got a 10 and she said, 'Once, but the guy was my uncle, so I don't count it.' Has anyone else had a service worker turn a simple question into a whole weird experiment on them?
