The census data that flipped my whole view of small towns

I always figured rural counties were losing people everywhere, but the 2020 numbers show places like Harding County, New Mexico actually grew by 11% since 2010. That's the opposite of what every news story implies. Has anyone else found a stat that goes against the usual narrative?
