Unpopular opinion: I was asking questions wrong for years until a friend pointed out my mistake

I used to think the best way to get good answers here was to ask broad, open-ended stuff like 'what's the meaning of life?'. My buddy in Chicago told me after a chat last Tuesday that my questions were too vague to get real help. He said a specific question like 'what's the best way to fix a wobbly ceiling fan in an old house?' gets way better, actionable advice. I tried it with a problem about my car making a noise, and the fix I got worked in 20 minutes. Now I focus on giving clear details and a narrow scope. What's a specific question you asked that got a surprisingly good solution?

Used to ask super vague stuff about life too. Had a leaky kitchen faucet and finally just posted the exact model and the weird drip pattern. Got a fix that saved me a plumber call.
