Why does nobody talk about how forum advice on water heaters is often outdated?

I noticed people keep giving advice about anode rods that's wrong for the newer models. Last month my neighbor replaced his based on a 5 year old thread and it voided his warranty. The issue is that many tanks now have powered anode rods that look identical but work completely different. Have you guys run into bad advice that sounded right but wasn't?

Man I used to be one of those guys telling everyone to just swap the anode rod every few years, but that "it voided his warranty" part really changed my mind. I actually had no idea powered anode rods were even a thing until I helped a friend with his new Rheem and we almost screwed it up. Its wild how the tech changed but the old forum advice just stuck around like its still 2015. Ive been trying to double check the model number before I say anything now because the last thing I want is to cost somebody their coverage.
