LinkedIn cold DMs actually worked for me after I changed one thing

I was totally against them after getting zero replies from 50 messages, but then I tried sending a 2 sentence note referencing a specific post they made 3 days ago. The reply rate jumped to about 20% - has anyone else had luck with a different approach?

Huh, is getting 20% of random people to reply really that big of a deal?

People get way too caught up in engagement numbers like it means something deep. It's just a random metric, not a life or death situation.
