Rant: Rewatched a demo video from that SaaS conference and saw something different
I was at a virtual B2B summit last month and this one CEO kept talking about how they got 300 signups from a single LinkedIn post. I went back and watched the recording again yesterday, and noticed he never showed the actual cost per lead or the follow-up funnel. Has anyone else found that those big win stories leave out the messy parts?

It's always wild how those big numbers get thrown around without the full picture. Saw a guy at a local networking event brag about a "viral" campaign that turned out to be paid ads masked as organic content. The messy parts are always the real story, like how they got those signups or what percentage actually turned into paying customers. Good on you for actually going back and checking the details, most folks just take it at face value.

Lmao yeah that's so true. A buddy of mine once got pitched by some "marketing guru" who bragged about getting 50k email signups. Turns out half of them were bots and the other half were people who clicked a free iPad link. @the_robert is spot on, the real story is always in the conversion rate. He said they only converted like 2% of those into actual buyers, which is nothing compared to what the guy was claiming at the bar.
