The demo script I wrote for a prospect kept failing, then I checked the audio settings
Last week I ran a live walkthrough for a logistics company and the screen share worked fine but the prospect kept saying they couldnt hear me. I had tested the mic that morning with a quick call so I figured it was on their end. Turned out our conferencing tool had switched the output to a random Bluetooth speaker from earlier that day. After 15 minutes of apologizing I finally checked the settings and fixed it, and the rest of the demo went smooth. That wasted time got me thinking, how many B2B demos die silently because of audio or video gremlins we never catch in pre-call checks? I now do a 2 minute test call from the exact same setup and browser I'll use for the real thing. Has anyone else lost a potential deal to tech hiccups that had nothing to do with the product itself?

Bluetooth is the devil. Every single time. The exact same setup rule is smart but I still forget it half the time because I'm rushing to join the call. Lost a whole morning once to a mute button that looked unmuted on my screen but wasn't. Now I just repeat myself twice at the start and ask "you good?" before diving into the real stuff. Nobody cares about your product if they can't hear you say it.
