Unpopular opinion: I quit sending 500 cold emails a week and my reply rate tripled
I used to blast out around 500 cold emails a week from a list I scraped, thinking volume was the whole game, and I was lucky to get 3 replies back in a good month. Then a guy I met at a small SaaS meetup in Columbus last fall asked me one question: would I ever reply to my own email? I read it out loud and it was awful, all pitch and no reason to care. Now I spend a full day researching 30 companies and send maybe 40 emails a week, and I'm getting 12 to 15 replies. Anyone else made the switch from spray and pray to small and specific, or am I just fooling myself with a small sample?
