Sales onboarding by day 30 or day 90, which number actually moves the needle?

We switched our onboarding target from 90 days to 30 days last quarter, and the difference on our CRM data was wild. The early group closed 40% more follow-up meetings, but the late group had fewer cancelations because they understood the product better. I thought the 30 day deadline would just stress people out, yet it forced us to trim our training binder from 80 slides to 25. Has anyone else seen a specific milestone like this change the quality of their B2B sales results, or is it just about the hire's experience?

My buddy runs sales at a logistics startup and they did the same 90 to 30 switch. He said the new people sold faster but then got stuck on the first real objection call, like they memorized the pitch without knowing what to do when someone pushed back. So they ended up adding a second phase at day 45 just for deep product stuff, and that finally balanced things out.
