The $47 "strategy call" that a vendor pitched my old boss in Orlando still bugs me 8 months later
I was in the room when a sales guy from a scheduling tool told my old boss in Orlando that the $47 "strategy call" was where the real value lived, not the software itself. My boss bought in, paid it, and the call turned out to be a 40 minute pitch for the $300 a month plan we already said no to twice. What got me was that nobody on our team could find a single review from a company our size, everything online was 5 stars from places with 500 plus workers. So I started asking vendors for two references from shops like ours before any demo, and three of them just stopped replying, which told me plenty. I get that review sites can be gamed, but asking for the right size reference feels like the one filter that still works. Has anyone here gotten a real answer out of a vendor when you asked why their reviews all come from way bigger companies?
