Tried a new CRM for my landscaping business and lost 3 client records in the transfer

Last month I switched from a spreadsheet setup to a cheap CRM I found online. Thought it would save me time but I ended up losing contact info for three repeat clients. One of them was a $4000 annual contract. I spent a whole weekend digging through old emails to reconstruct their data. Learned the hard way that you gotta back everything up twice before moving platforms. Anyone else had a migration disaster with a service tool?

Losing three client records isn't the end of the world though. You said yourself you reconstructed them from old emails in a weekend. That sucks but it's hardly a total business collapse. Some people act like one bad data transfer is a catastrophe when really it's just a normal headache of running a small operation.

I remember reading something from a database consultant that said you should always run a test migration with dummy data first. Sounds like that would have saved you a lot of headache. Hope you got those clients rebuilt okay.
