Was burned by too many sales pitches, but one vendor actually delivered
I used to roll my eyes at every B2B service pitch that came through my inbox. After getting burned on a CRM that promised the moon and crashed after 3 months, I was done trusting anyone. Then last spring, a small analytics firm from Austin reached out with a free 14-day trial and no contract. They actually helped me figure out why our lead pipeline was dropping off at step 3, and the fix doubled our conversions within 6 weeks. Has anyone else had a vendor surprise them after a string of bad experiences?

Got a cold email last year from a vendor selling a free tool that just tracked how fast our support tickets were getting answered. Figured it was another trap but clicked anyway. Turned out their main thing was a full helpdesk system, but they let me use the free tracker for 6 months without any upsell pressure. Eventually I bought their paid product because it worked, not because they nagged me. That whole no pressure approach is rare and it made all the difference for me.

Six months is exactly the kind of timeline that makes you trust a company. I got burned by a similar thing a few years back with a CRM that gave me a free lead tracker for 90 days, then hit me with three calls a week asking to upgrade. I blocked their number. If they'd just let me use it for a full year with zero nagging, I'd probably have bought their full system by month eight just because I was comfortable with how it worked. You can't fake that kind of patience. It's the only way to sell anything to small business owners like us, because once you feel pushed, you're out.
