Wasted $500 on a lead generation service that sent me fake contacts

I paid $500 upfront for a list of 200 supposed decision-makers at local construction firms, and 150 of the emails bounced back as invalid, has anyone else gotten burned by these cheap lead gen outfits?

Yeah but 150 bounced is different than them being fake. Sometimes they scrape old data or buy expired lists from someone else. Could also be a bad email verification tool on their end. That $500 was probably for a list that had been passed around a half dozen times already, no one verified anything. But 75% bounce rate is definitely on them for not cleaning it up.

Man, exactly. I got burned on a list once where half the emails were from like 2017. They didn't even bother to check if the domains were still active.
