Debate: fabric pots vs plastic pots for balcony tomatoes

I tried switching from plastic nursery pots to fabric grow bags for my cherry tomatoes this season on my 3rd floor balcony in Chicago. The bags dried out way faster which meant watering every day instead of every other day, but the roots looked healthier when I checked them last week. Has anyone else found a clear winner for hot exposed balconies?

Watering every day instead of every other day" sounds like a full time job, not a hobby. I guess your tomatoes are getting a better workout than you are.

My back definitely agrees with you @kevin_bailey, I think my garden hose is the only thing getting a real arm workout around here.
