Did switching from plastic pots to fabric grow bags change your balcony yields this fast?

I repotted my cherry tomatoes and basil into 5-gallon fabric bags 3 weeks ago and the roots are visibly denser and leaves darker, but I'm wondering if that's just my imagination since some folks swear plastic pots hold moisture better, so what's your before and after in the first month?
