Had to pick between a self-watering pot and a regular ceramic one for my cherry tomatoes
Went with the self-watering one because I forget to water on busy days, and three weeks in the tomatoes are actually bigger than my neighbor's who uses the fancy drip system in her ground garden.

My buddy Dave got a self-watering pot for his basil last year and it totally saved his plant. He was traveling for work all the time and his cat sitter kept forgetting to water things. The basil got huge, almost like a little bush, except he kept forgetting to trim it so it flowered and got bitter. But the point is, that pot kept it alive while he was gone for like two weeks at a time. I swear those self-watering things are magic for people who get busy (or just plain forget).

Started trimming my mint after it flowered once, never made that mistake again!
