Hit 50 pounds of cherry tomatoes off 2 plants and I'm shook
I always heard balcony tomatoes don't produce much but somehow my 2 little bush plants in 5 gallon buckets gave me 50 pounds over the summer. Now I'm wondering if that's normal or if I just got super lucky with the weather. Anyone else track their harvest weight and get a number that surprised them?

Dang 50 lbs off 2 plants is wild. I'm thinking your bucket setup and those little bush varieties probably had way better root space than most folks give them credit for. Bet that made a bigger difference than the weather tbh.

Yeah 5 gallon buckets are honestly the sweet spot for tomatoes (people overthink it and use tiny pots). I'd bet the compact bush varieties also focus all their energy into fruit instead of sprawling everywhere, which helps a ton with yield. Throw in consistent watering and you've got a recipe for 50 pounds easy.
