Hit 50 pounds of cherry tomatoes off my balcony last weekend
I started counting just for fun back in June and the total surprised me. That's from just 4 plants in 5 gallon buckets on a south facing balcony. The key was pruning them hard and feeding them liquid fertilizer every two weeks. Did anybody else track their harvest numbers this season and get shocked by the total?

Four plants in 5 gallon buckets giving 50 pounds is wild. I did something similar this year but on a ground level patio with only 2 plants in 10 gallon fabric pots, and I got 34 pounds total. The thing nobody talks about is the soil mix. I used a 50/50 blend of regular potting soil and composted cow manure, plus a handful of crushed eggshells at the bottom of each pot. That combo seemed to keep the soil loose and the plants never got root bound. The manure also fed them slow so I only fertilized twice the whole season. Bet your liquid fertilizer did the trick for those buckets though.

That's a lot of math for some tomatoes, @matthewp52.
