My balcony tomatoes went yellow after 2 weeks, anyone know why?

I started some cherry tomatoes on my balcony in Portland about 3 weeks ago, and they looked great for the first week. But now the lower leaves are turning yellow and a few have fallen off, and I'm not sure if I'm overwatering or if they need more sun. I'm using a 10 inch pot with drainage holes, and I water them every other day. Has anyone else dealt with yellow leaves on balcony tomatoes?

Sounds like overwatering. Let that soil dry out between waterings.

Has anyone actually tried sticking their finger in the soil before watering? I've killed so many plants just assuming it was dry on top. It's crazy how much water hangs out down there even when the surface looks dusty.
