My basil took off after I moved it to the west facing corner

I had my basil on the south side of my balcony for two months and it stayed tiny and pale. Then I swapped it to the west corner last week and it doubled in size with dark green leaves. Has anyone else had a random spot on their balcony that just works way better for certain plants?

Funny how sometimes the spot you least expect ends up being the perfect one, just like finding that chair that somehow fits you better than the others.

That bit about the chair fitting you better than the others really hit with me. I found this old beat up recliner at a thrift store and it looked terrible but I sat down and it was like it was made for me. Been three years and I still pick it over the nice couch every time. Sometimes the ugly or unexpected thing just works.

West facing walls hold heat way better than south ones in my experience, especially if there's brick or concrete soaking up sun all afternoon. I had the same issue with my rosemary until I stuck it against the west side of the house where it gets reflected warmth off the siding. Try putting a thermometer in that spot for a few days to see if the temperature difference is what's making it happy.
