My grandma told me to stop watering my tomatoes every single day
She said 'you're drowning the roots, give them a good soak every three days instead.' I was watering my balcony pots every morning for a month and the plants looked sad. I switched to her schedule, and within two weeks I had new growth and flowers. It saved my whole crop from root rot. Has anyone else had a family tip completely turn things around?

Grandmas know best when it comes to this stuff. My basil was getting yellow leaves from daily watering. Letting the soil dry out a bit between drinks made it explode with green growth. It feels wrong to not water every day, but most plants really hate wet feet. Sticking a finger in the soil to check for moisture is my go-to move now.

My old boss used to kill every office plant by watering on a strict schedule. It's a good lesson that a lot of things, from plants to projects, need a little breathing room to really thrive.

Gotta admit, I used to be on the strict schedule train too. Thought watering every Monday and Thursday was the golden rule until my basil started dropping leaves like crazy. Then I tried the finger test after reading a post from @campbell.logan about giving plants breathing room, and it totally changed my game. Now I only water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and everything is way happier. It's wild how something so simple can make such a big difference. Have you ever tried bottom watering with a saucer to help avoid wet feet?
