My sister said my tomato plants looked 'sad and thirsty' and she was right
I was watering them a little bit every morning, but she pointed out the soil was bone dry an inch down by noon in this Phoenix heat. I switched to a deep soak every other day and they perked up in less than a week. How do you guys figure out the right watering schedule for a hot, windy balcony?

Stick your finger in the dirt, best test.

@mark_hernandez12 really nailed it, deep watering is the way to go.

I always thought my morning splash in Tucson was enough. Seeing those wilted leaves convinced me deep watering less often is the real fix.
