My tomato plants snapped in a gust of wind on my 6th floor balcony
I was standing there watering my cherry tomatoes when a sudden breeze came out of nowhere and just broke two of them clean in half. I tried tying them up with some old yarn but the damage was already done. Has anyone else dealt with brittle stems on a windy balcony?

My buddy had the same issue on his 10th floor balcony - his basil plants got DESTROYED by a sudden gust. He ended up getting these little clear plastic wind barriers that clip onto the railing.

Tie them to little wooden stakes before the stems get too heavy next time. I learned this the hard way after losing three plants last summer. You can also wrap the base of the stems with a little bit of garden tape or even soft cloth strips to give them more support. If the wind is really bad, just bring the pots inside for the day and put them back out when it calms down. That saved my whole crop last month.
