Peppers finally turning red after 3 months of waiting

I planted a habanero back in May on my south facing balcony in Austin and the thing has been green forever... Finally saw the first hint of orange today and I got way too excited about it. How long do your peppers usually take to ripen up once they start changing color?

Your mileage may vary obviously but from what I've seen with jalapenos and cayennes on my porch, once you see that first color change it goes pretty quick. Like a week or two and they're fully red if the weather stays warm enough. It's kind of like how getting a project started is the hardest part but once you get momentum going things just flow. Same with peppers. That first hint of color is the breakthrough and then the rest follow along pretty fast. Just keep watering consistently and don't mess with them too much.

I mean "finally saw the first hint of orange today" is basically how everything good in life works, right? You wait forever for something to happen and then it slowly creeps up on you when you least expect it.
