Shoutout to the random seed packet that said "Grows in Low Light" - total lie I learned the hard way

I bought this packet of 'Window Box Mix' from a dollar store downtown back in March. The back said 'thrives in low light conditions' so I figured my shady balcony would be perfect. Turns out after 6 weeks of watering and waiting, I got exactly 2 sad little sprouts that stretched like crazy trying to find sun. I looked it up on the company's website and found out their definition of 'low light' is actually like 4 hours of direct sun which I definitely don't get. So now I'm stuck with a bunch of dirt and a broken dream of homegrown lettuce. Has anyone else been burned by those over-promising seed packets from discount stores?

My buddy Mike got fooled by the same kind of thing last spring. He bought a bag of "Miracle Mix" sunflowers from a dollar store and the packet said they'd bloom in 60 days with just a little morning light. He planted them in this tiny patch of dirt behind his garage that barely sees any sun, like maybe an hour or two at most. After three months of watering and no flowers, he dug one up to check and the root system was basically all tangled in a knot from trying to find its way out of the pot. He ended up tossing the whole thing and just buying tomato plants from Home Depot instead.

Stop blaming the dirt when the seed packet lied to you. Those dollar store packs are pure hype, roots can't fix a sun shortage. Mike should've just bought a grow light for ten bucks.
