Tomato cage disaster turned my balcony into a mess, now I stake everything

Last month a gust of wind knocked over my 4 foot tomato cage on the 12th floor and sent 3 plants crashing into the railing pots. I lost two ripe cherry tomatoes and had to repot everything in the middle of a Tuesday. Now I use bamboo stakes tied with soft twine and anchor the pots to the railing with bungee cords. Has anyone else had their balcony garden wrecked by a sudden windstorm in the city?
