Vent: My sad basil plant went from three leaves to a full bush in just one month

I almost gave up on my little basil pot after it sat there with only three sad leaves for weeks. Then I moved it from a partly shady spot to a corner that gets a solid six hours of morning sun (my balcony faces east). I also started watering it a bit every morning instead of a big soak twice a week. The change was crazy fast, it's now a big, bushy plant I can actually cook with. Has anyone else had a plant totally turn around just from moving it a few feet?

What kind of soil did you have it in? I tried growing basil in that basic bagged potting mix once and it just sulked. Switched to a chunkier mix with more perlite for drainage and it was like a different plant. Sometimes the fix isn't just light or water, it's what its roots are sitting in.

Honestly, I had it in that cheap all-purpose stuff from the big box store. Switched to a mix of regular potting soil, a bunch of perlite, and a little bit of compost. The difference was crazy, way better drainage and the roots actually spread out.
