Watching a neighbor in Phoenix use old window screens for shade changed my whole setup.
I saw her zip-tie them to the railing over her peppers, and now my plants don't scorch in the afternoon sun. Anyone else have a cheap shade trick that actually works?

You zip-tied them to the railing in Phoenix, where it's a million degrees?

Yeah, they're basically solar cooking now. Great way to get that extra crispy finish.

Ngl the zip-tie thing is actually smart if you think about it though. I saw a dude in Texas who strapped an old phone to his exhaust pipe for a week to dry out the water damage, worked way better than rice. But the real issue nobody's talking about is the battery expanding in that heat. That's not a cooking feature, that's a fire hazard waiting to pop off. Seen it happen to a buddy's Galaxy S20 on a 110 degree day in the car, phone turned into a spicy pillow real quick.
