My offset smoker firebox hinge gave out mid-brisket cook

Was doing a 14 hour brisket run last Saturday for a family thing and the hinge on my firebox door just snapped around hour 9. The door fell right off and I had to hold it in place with a cinder block while I finished the cook. Managed to save the meat but my smoke control was all over the place after that. Has anyone else had a hinge fail on them, or do I just need to upgrade to a heavier gauge unit?
