Showerthought: My coal placement trick evened out my grill heat

I had a problem with some parts of my grill cooking way faster than others. It messed up my ribs more than once. I watched a pitmaster show where they talked about indirect heating. So I tried putting all the coals on just half the grill space. The other half stays cooler for slow cooking. My last batch of chicken thighs came out juicy all the way through. Figuring this out felt like a real win for my BBQ game.
