Our book club spent three meetings stuck on the same chapter of 'The Overstory'
We picked it for our fall read, and everyone got totally bogged down in the middle section with all the different tree science. I thought it was just me, but at the meeting, half the group said they loved the deep dive into ecology and found it peaceful. The other half, including me, felt it really slowed the story down and made us put the book aside for days. We ended up talking in circles about whether a book needs to teach you something or just tell a good story. It took us three whole Tuesday nights, and a lot of coffee, to finally agree to just skip ahead ten pages as a group and keep going. Has your club ever had to make a call like that to get past a rough patch in a book?
