Can we talk about how book club used to mean 12 people arguing in a living room?
Three years ago our group in Portland only had 6 members and we'd fight for 2 hours over one chapter in somebody's kitchen. Last month we tried a hybrid meeting with 4 people on a video call and it felt like reading a book report out loud to a wall. The one guy who always brought the spicy takes just typed "agree" in the chat and that killed the whole argument. I miss when we could actually see someone's face get red over an ending. Does anyone else's group feel flatter now that half the members dial in?
