Finally saw the payoff from 6 months of consistent reading discussions
My book club started tracking our debate topics back in January, and I just reviewed the notes from our first meeting vs last night. We used to spend 40 minutes just arguing about whether we liked a character or not, with no real direction. Now each person gets 3 minutes to present their take, then we vote on which angle to explore deeper. The difference is night and day - we covered 4 major themes in one night last week that would have taken us 3 meetings before. Has anyone else tried formalizing their discussion structure and seen a similar shift?

Your friend ever try that with their book club? My buddy's group tried something similar and it saved them from those endless debates about who was "right" about the plot. They go through books way faster now.

Eh, structured time limits might kill the best parts of those spontaneous debates though.
