Finally tried the audio book trick for slow reading and it clicked

I always struggled to finish book club picks on time because I'm a slow reader. Last month I listened to the first 3 chapters on audio during my commute and read the rest physically. It cut my total time by about 40 percent and I actually remembered more details. Has anyone else mixed audio and print for the same book to get through it faster?

Is this really the kind of thing that needs a whole system though? Seems like a lot of work just to finish a book club pick (unless it's for a really serious group that gives you a hard time for being late). I've tried listening to audiobooks while driving and honestly my mind wanders so much I miss half the story, so mixing formats would probably just confuse me more. Not saying it's wrong, just feels like overthinking a pretty simple problem.

I used to think the same way until I tried it, and honestly I was wrong.
