I was that person who read the last page first for 2 years and thought it was normal
Last month at our book club meeting in Portland, someone handed out a copy of a mystery novel and I flipped to the end before we even started talking, and this woman just stared at me and asked why I always do that. I didn't have an answer except that it felt safer somehow, like if I knew how it ended I could relax while reading it, but she pointed out that I've been quiet at meetings for months because I never actually have a reaction anymore. Is reading the ending first something you do, or should I just tough it out and let a book surprise me for once?
Totally get the safety thing but you gotta quit cold turkey, it kills all the fun and thats why you're bored at club. Try picking a short book you don't care about and just read it straight through, the surprise gets easier after like two or three books.
