I wasted $60 on that fancy book club discussion guide video series

My book club decided to try something new last month and I bought a $60 video series that promised to help us have deeper discussions. It was just some guy in his basement talking about how to ask open-ended questions for 3 hours. We all watched the first video, got bored, and just ended up talking about the book like we always do. The money's gone and I'm still annoyed I fell for the hype. Has anyone else gotten tricked into buying something that was supposed to improve your club meetings but just wasn't worth it?

Save your money next time lol a bad book discussion is better than that garbage.

Gotta call out something real quick - you said you wasted $60 but that's not even what happened lol. You didn't waste the money, the series wasted your time. The money's actually still gone either way, but like if you'd bought a bad book and hated it, you'd call that a waste too. But the real waste is the 3 hours of your book club's life watching that guy in his basement. Next time just put that $60 towards snacks or wine for the meeting, that'll spark way better conversations than some video.
