My book club went from lively debates to boring summaries in just three months
Ever since Sarah started sending out those official discussion guides before each meeting, nobody argues about the themes anymore and we just nod along for two hours, has anyone else had their club lose that spark?

Wait, are we sure we're not just all secretly relieved we don't have to prep anymore? I mean, I love a good fight over a character's dumb choices, but last month I showed up with zero clue who was talking and just nodded like I was deep in thought. Turns out the guide was a blessing in disguise for my lazy brain, even if it made the meeting feel like a PowerPoint presentation from HR. So yeah, Sarah's guides might be sucking the life out of it, but at least I'm not the only one who forgot to read the second half. I'll take boring over awkward silence any day.

Read somewhere that discussion guides kill the fun on purpose to avoid arguments.
