Okay, I was wrong about the whole 'no spoilers' rule in our club
Our group in Austin has this ironclad 'no spoilers past the assigned chapter' policy. I was its biggest defender. Then, last month, we were discussing 'The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' and got totally stuck on a character's motivation about 200 pages in. Someone finally caved and hinted at a major twist from near the end. Instead of ruining it, that context actually made the middle section way more interesting to talk about. We spent the whole night analyzing the foreshadowing we'd missed. Now I think a strict no-spoilers rule can sometimes kill a deeper conversation. Has your club ever made an exception like that?

So much for your ironclad policy, huh? Sounds like your spoiler guard turned into the best part of the meeting. Maybe the real spoiler was the friends we made along the way.

Friends we made along the way" reminds me of the time a flat tire led to meeting my now neighbor.
