Our book club meeting at the library in Springfield got heated over 'The Road'

Half of us think the ending shows a tiny bit of hope with the boy finding the other family, while the other half says it's just more of the same bleak survival. The debate got so loud the librarian had to ask us to quiet down. Which side are you on, hopeful or just more grim?

Okay but here's my thing, does that other family even have a real plan, or are they just the next group of people trying not to starve?

laughing at myself here because my 'plans' usually involve hoping my laptop doesn't crash before a deadline, so i'm not one to judge. honestly half the time i don't have a real plan for dinner and i'm just grabbing whatever's in the pantry. but yea, having a vague idea and actually having steps are two totally different things. i'd trust the people who are just trying to get by over the ones with big speeches any day.

You said "real plan" and that's the whole problem. They keep talking about big ideas but never the actual steps. It's just hoping things work out, which isn't a plan at all.
